Obituary of Kathryn H. Barnes
Kathryn H. Barnes, age 94, of Pahokee, passed away peacefully March 24, 2013 at Hospice of Palm Beach County, Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center after a lengthy illness. She was born Feb. 11, 1919 in Plant City, FL, to the late Walter and the late Lois (Clark) Hull.
Kathryn was the second of five daughters, they all lived a very idyllic life, "Papa" doted on his daughters making sure they all had the best life possible. Kathryn attended Florida Southern College in Lakeland, FL. In 1937 she was crowned Homecoming Queen at the University of Florida.
She met and married Ed, who died tragically early in their marriage. Later, she fell in love with his older brother, Wallace, who passed away in 1982.
She is survived by her son: Robert W. Barnes (Rhonda) of Cape Coral, FL, daughter: Kay Zaccagnino (Donald) of Pahokee, FL, two sisters: Hilda Wilkinson of Pahokee, FL, Tinky Nason of Vero Beach, FL, grandchildren: Bobbie S. Anderson (John), Bert Barnes (Heather), Barrett Barnes, Blake Barnes, Wallace Zaccagnino, Daniel Zaccagnino and great-great grandchildren Emorie Kathryn Anderson, Carson Barnes and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husbands: Wallace W. Barnes and Edward Barnes, sisters: Genevieve H. Wilson and Clark H. Wilkinson. She leaves a legacy of love, with a smile for everyone. She lived a very long and satisfying life and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 2:00 pm at First United Methodist Church of Pahokee, Pahokee with Rev. Patricia Aupperlee officiating. Interment will be in Port Mayaca Cemetery, Canal Point.
