Obituary of James D. Williams

James D. "Doug" Williams, age 73, of Fort Myers, formerly of Pekin, Illinois passed away November 4, 2015 at his home. Doug was born Aug. 22, 1942, in Pekin, IL, to James C and Virginia (White) Williams. Doug married Susan L. Genseal on December 18, 1961 in Green Valley. Doug was an Iron Worker with Union Local # 112 in East Peoria, Illinois for many years. Doug owned and operated Gem Shoppe in Fort Myers for many years. Doug also owned Semmco Steel in East Peoria, Illinois. He was an avid hunter and NASCAR fan, Doug loved spending time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by his family. Doug served in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Survivors include his wife: Susan L. Williams, two sons: Brian Williams of North Fort Myers, FL, Rick Williams of Manito, IL and two daughters: Teresa Maines of Fort Myers, FL, Michelle Blount of North Fort Myers, FL, two sisters: Leilani Doss of Morton, IL, Julie Hedrick of Cape Coral, FL, eleven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Son, Brad Williams, grandchildren, Alexis Williams, and Mark Williams, Brother, Dennis Williams His memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home and Crematory in Pekin, Illinois. The Rev. John E. Plunkett will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
