Obituary of Charles R. Gillen

Charles R. Gillen, age 57, of Lehigh Acres, passed away December 18, 2015 in Fort Myers. He was born March 20, 1958 in Bellefontaine, OH, to the late Richard Earl and the late Wanda Irene (Linson) Gillen. Chuck was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was an ambitious man who dearly loved to work. He knew hard work was the key to success and set that example. He knew that sometimes the greatest thing to come out of your hard work isn't what you get for it, but what you become for it. He proved that life can be fun, and that the greatest success is not found in a title or a bank account, but by doing the best that you can while being a gentle, caring human being. He never knew a stranger and could command your attention with his endless stories. He was the guy who was willing to do anything for anybody. He is survived by his loving wife: Christina Lynn Gillen, sons: Gregory Gillen (Sarah), Joshua Gillen (Amanda), Stephen Gillen (Olivia), daughter: Krystal Alegria (Orlando), sisters: Sharon Shirk, Diane Miller (Brad), Barb McCarren (Mike), Pam Gillen (Tracy Baker), sister-in-law, Linda Gillen and grandchildren, Joshua, Landen, Aubrey and Jaxon and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by brother Mick Gillen (Sue) and brother Gary Gillen. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 10:00 am at Akin-Davis Funeral Home, Fort Myers with Pastor Richard Phillips officiating. Interment will be in Alva Cemetery, Alva. Visitation will be Tuesday from 06:00-08:00 pm at Akin-Davis Funeral Home, Fort Myers, FL. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (1-800-4STJUDE). St. Jude's was a passion of Chuck's. Arrangements by Akin-Davis Funeral Home - Fort Myers.
