Obituary of Cecile Adele Thomas
Cecile Adele Thomas (nee) Krusen) departed this life on the 12th of January at the Hendry Regional Medical Center, Clewiston, after succumbing to long standing health problems. She was 101 years old. Early years were spent in southern New Jersey and Philadelphia, and she was married to the former Samuel S. Thomas. Children were raised in Philadelphia and later in Miami where the family moved in the 1950's. She remained there until her husband retired as a Senior Cost Accountant for Eastern Airlines; then relocating to the west coast of Florida. Miami years were times when "Del" operated her own antiques and bric-a-brac stores; being most of all mother to her children and wife to her husband. She moved to Clewiston in 2000 with her son, The Reverend Samuel S. Thomas; and was active as a knitter and crocheter; known for her handwork and sewing skills inherited from her French ancestors. She was active in her Church, participating in many of Church activities until health began to limit her presence and participation. A Requiem service was held on Thursday, January 21st, conducted by her son, The Reverend Samuel Thomas, Ph.D., Rector of the parish. Del opted to donate her remains for medical research. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome and appropriate for the Church where she worshipped and shared; Saint Martin's Episcopal Church, Clewiston.
Akin-Davis Funeral Home – Clewiston assisted with the donation.
