Obituary of Dorothy E. Herring

Dorothy E. Herring, age 92, of Clewiston, passed away April 5, 2016 in Clewiston. Dorothy was born on June 7, 1923 in Alamo, Georgia to Harry T. and Ruth Inez Ussery McAfee, Sr. She married Melvin C. Herring; he preceded her in death on November 22, 1989. She was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She started working for B&B Grocery Store 1954 and later U-Save grocery store as a manager until she retired in 1988. Her four legged companion Lucy will miss her greatly. Dorothy enjoyed traveling the country, especially out west. She leaves behind her daughter; Gale Clark and her husband Ray of Clewiston, step-sons; Mickey Herring and Richard Herring; grandchildren; Steve Clark, Natalie Parker, Rodni Cruz, Shawn Grooms, Carson Clark, Mike Herring, and Andrew Herring, fourteen great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren, one sister Irma Sprouse of Jacksonville, Florida. Dorothy was also preceded in death by daughter; Linda Rose Barton, along with many brothers and sisters, her brothers and sister: Eason Ray McAfee, H.T. McAfee, Julian David McAfee, James Herbert McAfee and one sister, Evelyn Ruth McDaniel. A gathering of family and friends will be held at 2:00 p.m. April 23, 2016 at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 601 NE Avenue B, Belle Glade, Florida.
