Obituary of Alberto Morrell

Alberto Morrell, 98, died May 8, 2016 in Clewiston, Florida. He was born on October 31, 1917 in Havana to Andres Fernandez-Morrell and Serafina Coca. He attended Louisiana State University and graduated in 1942. He was married to Carlota Tonarely on June 13, 1943. Alberto brought his family from Cuba in October 1960 and was a resident of Clewiston for over 53 years, coming from Pahokee where he lived for 3 years. He was employed in the sugar cane industry his entire working life. He was preceded in death by sisters Luisa de Armas and Serafina, and brothers Andres, Alonso and Arturo (Coco). Survivors are his wife of almost 73 years Carlota; daughters Carlota Barwick (Jeff) of Clewiston; Luisa Jenkins (Mike) of Mooresburg, TN; Fina Marcone (Victor), of Northport, FL. Sons Alberto (Sandra) of Clewiston; Mandy (Patsy) of Mayking, KY; and Alfonso (Laina) of Canton, GA. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Saturday May 21st at Saint Margaret Catholic Church in Clewiston. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the church's building maintenance fund. Arrangements by Akin-Davis Funeral Home - Clewiston
