Obituary of Roger Gene Kelley

Roger Gene Kelley, "Unkie Dunk", 74, Lehigh Acres, Florida passed away with the sunrise on September 18, 2016. He was born on September 28, 1941 in Arlington, Massachusetts to Frederick Sylvester Kelley Sr. and Audrey Violet Kelley. Roger grew up in Swanville, Maine on his parent's farm. Always a free spirit and a wanderer he lived a full and adventurous life. Creative from the time he was a boy at around ten he won a drawing contest and the prize was a go-kart, it was ridden until the tires came off. He enlisted in the Army in 1957, he served in Germany. When back in Maine he became a house builder and master craftsman. He would travel the country from Maine, Massachusetts, Florida, Wyoming, Alaska, and the Caribbean building, hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle, making friends, and causing ruckus where ever he stopped. Roger married Barbara (Ames) in 1995, in Fort Myers, Florida. They were happily married. Roger was predeceased in death by his parents Frederick S. Kelley and Audrey V. Kelley. His siblings Shirley Lillian Nickerson(Kelley) and Frederick Kelley Jr. Roger is survived by his wife Barbara of Lehigh Acres, Florida; his step-daughter Sara (David Murray) of Lehigh Acres, Florida; siblings Helen (Lee Robinson) of Swanville, Maine, James Kelley (Ruth) of Swanville, Donna (Larry McNamara) of Prospect all in Maine; grandchild Owen Murray of Lehigh Acres, Florida; numerous nieces, nephews, and family members; special friends Roger's wishes were to be cremated and his ashes will be scattered at sea around Matinicus Island, Maine. A celebration of Roger's life will be held in Belfast, Maine at the American Legion on October, 8 2016 from 1-4 pm and another celebration will be held in Lehigh Acres, Florida at a later date.
