Obituary of Shelia R. Zakens

Shelia R. Zakens, age 84, of Fort Myers, passed away September 15, 2016 in Cape Coral. She was born July 24, 1932 in Detroit, MI, to the late John and the late Hazel (McGinty) Mulligan. Shelia was born and raised in Detroit, MI and lived there until the family moved to Fort Myers in 1972. She was a real estate broker and owner of Gardenia Realty for over 20 years. She also belonged to many organizations, American Business Woman Association, Board of Realtors, Bridge Club and the River Forest Association to name of few. She is survived by her son: John Zakens, daughter: Dawn M. Kiely, brothers: John Mulligan (Cathleen) and Martin Mulligan (Cindy), sister: Sharon Pauliscak, grandchildren: Jimmy, Bridget, Patrick and Tara and great grandchildren, Emily, Brian, Lauren and Samantha. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward B. Zakens, Jr., son, Eddie Zakens and son-in-law Derek Kiely. A mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at 9:00 am at Saint Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, Fort Myers with Father Murchadh O'Madagain officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 06:30 - 07:30 pm with a prayer service starting at 7:30 pm at Akin-Davis Funeral Home, Fort Myers, FL. Cremation arrangements by Akin-Davis Funeral Home - Fort Myers.
