Obituary of Agnes Bechtel

LABELLE - Agnes Elizabeth Bechtel passed away on Apr. 17, 2017, in Atlanta, Ga., as a result of an automobile accident. She was born on Jan. 14, 1932, in Palmerton, Pa., to Joseph and Elizabeth Keglowitz. Agnes grew up in Slatington, Pa., where she attended a traditional one room school house and graduated from Slatington High School. After school she assumed many responsibilities on her family's farm. Agnes worked as a seamstress for many years and worked for Nina's Sportswear as a collar setter. Agnes married Charles Bechtel on Dec. 2, 1950, in Allentown, Pa. They were happily married for 47 years and have three children, Deborah Swank, Karen Faust, and Jeffrey Bechtel. In 1995, Charles and Agnes moved to LaBelle. Agnes was a member of Life Ministries Church, where she was a beloved member of the intercessory prayer team. For many years she walked the streets of LaBelle as a member of the prayer walkers. She also joyfully volunteered at Oak Brook of LaBelle. Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Keglowitz; her husband, Charles C. Bechtel; and half-sister, Angie. Agnes is survived by her sister, Anne Markovic, of Fountain Hill, Pa.; her half-sister, Mary; three children, Deborah (Rodney) Swank, of Tamaqua, Pa., Karen (Terry) Faust, of Allentown, Pa., and Jeffrey Bechtel, of LaBelle; her grandchildren, Bryan Rabenold, of Gilbert, Pa., Christopher Faust, of Ironton, Pa., Kimberly (Gregory) Wittner, of Allentown, Pa., Matthew (Jennifer) Bechtel, of Fort Myers, Peter (Rachel) Bechtel, of Anderson, S.C., Adam (Kimberly) Bechtel, of Tallahassee, and Jessica Bechtel, of Anderson, S.C.; her great-grandchildren, Melania Rabenold, Aria Rabenold, Hannah Bechtel, Timothy Bechtel, John Bechtel, Clay Bechtel, Elisabeth Bechtel, Joanna Bechtel, and Adalynn Bechtel; as well as her nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Memorial services will be held on May 12, 2017 at 6 pm at Life Ministries Church of LaBelle. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Life Ministries Church.
