Obituary of Caroline Thomas Pape

Obituary for: Caroline Thomas Pape Caroline Thomas Pape, age 86, of Clewiston, passed away December 2, 2010 in West Palm Beach, FL. She was born Nov. 13, 1924 in Hawthorne, daughter of the late Russell B. and the late Claudia Dot (Beckham) Thomas. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Richard L. Pape. Caroline was raised in Hawthorne and met her husband, Richard, while he was a student at the University of Florida. They married after his graduation and moved to Clewiston. She worked as an administrative assistant for many years with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers and also US Sugar, retiring from both. She continued running Pape Farms for twelve years after the death of her husband in 1989. Caroline was active in the Green Thumbs Garden Club, Clewiston Museum, Habitat for Humanity and the American Cancer Society. She was a active member of First United Methodist Church, Clewiston and Orange Creek Methodist Church, Hawthorne. Survivors include daughters Amy Carole Pape (Lisa) of Wellington and Mary Melissa Pape-Harker of Hawthorne; special cousin Mary Beckham Beardsley of Clewiston; grandchildren, Carlos (Shelli) Herring Jr., Anthony Galan, Richard "Caleb" Harker, Adeline Nicole Harker and great-grandson, Micah Christopher Herring. Caroline cherished her dear friends and the many cousins with whom she shared her childhood. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 6, 2010 at 11:00 am at First United Methodist Church, 331 W. Osceola Avenue, Clewiston, with Pastor Ron Thomas and Pastor John Hicks officiating. A graveside committal service will be Tueday, December 7, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at Fort Myers Cemetery, Fort Myers. Visitation will be Sunday from 3-5p.m. at Akin-Davis Funeral Home, Clewiston, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to either First United Methodist Church, 331 W. Osceola Avenue, Clewiston, FL 33440 or to the Orange-Creek Methodist Church, P.O.
