Obituary of Allison Elma McKenzie

Obituary of Allison Elma. McKenzie Allison Elma McKenzie beautiful, devoted, and fearless (nickname "Bungie") was born in Merrick, New York on May 19, 1979 to Doreen Mary McKenzie and the late Hollis Gatien McKenzie, both of Trinidad & Tobago. She departed this life on May 1, 2018 at Hendry Regional Hospital of Clewiston, Florida. She was a loving sister to Ann Kelly and Alethia Lawrence, aunty to niece Rena Marie Kelly and nephew Nathaniel Hollis McKenzie, sister-in-law to Rufus Kelly, great aunt to nephews Cameron Nahiem Washington and Caleb Xavier Washington. Allison always believed in the importance of education. She was a devoted student and matriculated at Cornell University graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2001. Following her dream as a young girl, she attended J.D. Brooklyn Law School and graduated in 2008. So many admired her integrity as she held people at their word and accountable for their actions, whether it was in her line of work or with friends and family. Her memberships, awards, and community involvement only highlight her dedication to her craft. As a strong and powerful New York lawyer she sought justice and advocated for those who could not speak for themselves. Allison's phenomenal work ethic was respected by many. In 2014, Allison moved to LaBelle Florida to be closer to her family and continued to seek justice for those living in the Southwest Florida area. Allison lived for adventure, spontaneity, and was never afraid to try new things. She loved different cuisines, partying, dancing, and feting to the soca beat. She loved and adored her family, and friends; they meant the world to her. Besides her mother and sisters she is survived by the following family members: her aunts Maureen Nelson, Catherine Hilaric-Chan, Eileen Browne, Cynthia McKenzie, Irma Alexander and Lorrain Etienne; and uncle John James, her cousins Susan Joseph, Grace Hilaric, Helen Oliver, Caren Paul, Joanne Hilaric, Junior Nelson, Diane Browne, Judy Ann Nelson, Ruthven Boucaud, Roland Boucaud, Corey Alexander, Colin Alexander, Judyann McKenzie, Giselle McKenzie, and all other family members that are still living at this time. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church 355 Bridge Street LaBelle, Florida on Tuesday May 8th 2018 at 10:00am, and a bereavement reception will follow at 12:00pm in the Pariah Hall. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday evening May 7, 2018 in Akin-Davis Funeral Home – LaBelle. Burial will be in Ortona Cemetery – Moore Haven.
