Obituary of Marie L. O'Ferrell

Marie L. O'Ferrell, age 80, was born on November 7, 1938 in Greensboro, North Carolina, she passed away at home on December 10, 2018. While in North Carolina, Maria worked at a local florist and then for Western Electric. She was a member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church. In 1973, Marie and her husband, John moved the family to LaBelle. She was a long-time employee of LaBelle Middle School, working as a paraprofessional and later on continued her career at LaBelle Elementary School, retiring in 2000 but continued her passion of working with students as a substitute teacher at all the area schools. Marie was preceded in death by her parents; Clarence and Edna Lowdermilk, husband; Jon O'Ferrell, brothers-in-law; Tommy O'Ferrell and Dennis Sockwell. Marie is survived by her sons; Wesley (Wendy) O'Ferrell of LaBelle and Ricky O'Ferrell of Winter Haven, sisters; Sylvia Sockwell of Brown Summit, North Carolina, and Daphna (Wayne) Wagoner of McLeansville, North Carolina, grandchildren; Tyler O'Ferrell, Abbie O'Ferrell, Macy O'Ferrell, Correy O'Ferrell, Haylee O'Ferrell and Reece O'Ferrell. Services were held on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Carlson Memorial United Methodist Church in LaBelle. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to LaBelle High School Quarterback Club and Hope Hospice. Arrangements by Akin-Davis Funeral Home - LaBelle.
