Obituary of Harry Thomas Vaughn

Harry Thomas Vaughn, Jr, age 86, of Highlands, North Carolina, passed away March 6, 2019 in Fernandina Beach. He was born July 12, 1932 in Clewiston, FL, to Harry Thomas and Evelyn (Berard) Vaughn, Sr. Harry attended the University of Miami where he earned a Bachelor Degree in Business. Mr. Vaughn married Virginia Claire Jones on February 19, 1955 at Saint Margaret's Catholic Church. After he and Claire were only married for six months, Harry was shipped out in the Army to Korea where he spent 16 months serving his country. Then he and Claire moved to Atlanta, GA, where Harry once again earned a Bachelor Degree in Industrial Engineering at Georgia Tech. He later went on to work at the United States Sugar Corporation, retiring in 1987 as Executive Vice President. Harry leaves behind his loving wife of 64 years Virginia Claire Vaughn, his sons: Harry Thomas Vaughn, III, Michael Peyton Vaughn, daughter: Kristen Marie Vaughn: four wonderful grandchildren: Casey Lee Vaughn, Harry Thomas Vaughn, IV, Katie Peyton Vaughn and Ethan Perry Vaughn, sister: Lyn Brinson; and many extended family members and close friends. A memorial mass will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2019 in Saint Margaret's Catholic Church, with Father Jiobani Batista presiding. Immediately following the mass, there will be a time of fellowship and visiting in the Dan McCarthy Memorial Fellowship Hall of Saint Margaret's Catholic Church.
