Obituary of Gary O'Neal Walker
Gary O'Neal Walker,71, of Woodstock, GA passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2019 after an extended illness.
A Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 12, 2019 in the Chapel of Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta, GA.
Born in Palm Beach County, Florida on February 19, 1948. He attended Belle Glade High School, where he was an All State football player and was voted Most Handsome. He graduated from the University of Florida and earned a Juris Doctor from Atlanta Law School.
Gary served as a Cobb County Assistant Solicitor, and a Cobb County Assistant District Attorney, then went into private practice, specializing in criminal trials. Well loved, and well respected, Gary was often referred to as "larger than life". He wore hats, smoked cigars, and told epic stories about his early life in the Everglades. He was a tough competitor in the courtroom, and everywhere else, but was confident enough in his masculinity to gladly dance in his daughter's recitals (and was surprisingly talented). When his son played baseball and soccer, Gary was there for every game, always putting his family first. His clients loved him, and some were so grateful they even got a tattoo of his famous hat.
There is so much more we could say about Gary, but he will always be remembered as a great man, a one-of-a-kind character. He will be missed by all who knew him.
