Obituary of Donald H. Gingell, Sr.

Donald Howard Gingell, Sr. (age 95) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at his home in Fort Myers, Florida. He was born on April 1, 1924 in Huntington, West Virginia. He served in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1946 and received the World War II Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Metal and the American Theater Medal. He worked in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh before retiring from Commercial Credit Corporation in Baltimore in 1985. He has resided in Fort Myers since retirement. He is predeceased by Margaret P. Gingell, his wife of 65 years. He is survived by his children Debe Galiotto, Donald Jr. and his wife Sharon, Kenneth Gingell and his husband Robert Hall, Patrick Gingell and his wife Rhonda, Margaret Ann Principe and her husband Guy, and Robert Gingell and his wife Madolyn. He is also survived by sixteen grand- and great-grand children: Mark Galiotto, Sarah McManus (and husband Greg), Matthew Galiotto (and wife Raquel), Mitchell Galiotto (and wife Kim), Michael Galiotto, Haley Galiotto, Marlo (and husband Jeff) and Fallon Jablonski, Katie, Ryan, Reef and Neve Gingell, Caitlyn Eakins, Hudson and Camden Robarge and Patrick Eakins. The family is eternally grateful for the efforts of his daughter Peg Principe and her husband Guy, and grandson Mark Galiotto whose loving care made it possible for Don to remain in his home. A Memorial Mass and Interment will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 10:00 am at Saint Vincent DePaul Catholic Church.
