Obituary of Michael Howard Beelby

Mike Beelby passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Dec. 30, 2019 at his Florida residence. Mike was born on July 4, 1949 in Holly, MI to Mark and Ruth (Bailey) Beelby. Mike was really an all American boy; at the top of his class academically and lettering in three sports in high school. He and his family were avid Detroit Lions fans, and Mike loved to golf. Mike had a lifelong passion for mathematics and was a voracious reader. At 17, he was accepted into the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, MD. He played football for Navy and graduated with distinction from the Naval Academy. He later received his master's degree from the US Navy Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA. in aeronautical engineering. Mike spent 28 years in the Navy, and was stationed in Italy, Japan, and the Philippines. He was stationed in Eagan, MN when he retired. Mike is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 21 years, Rebecca (Wermter) Wolden of South Range, WI. He is also survived by his siblings: Sandra (Tom) Stephens of Luzerne, MI; Colleen (Stan) Hebert of Las Vegas, NV; and Keith Beelby of Luzerne, MI. He is also survived by his sons Christopher and Michael Jr, of RI. and two ex wives; Linda Beelby of RI, and Adelia of FL; and many cousins, nieces and nephews and special friends from Holly, Superior, and around the world. He is also survived by stepchildren and grandchildren: Caleb (Laura) and Micaiah Wolden of Poplar, WI; Emily and Elora Wolden of WA State, and Rhythm Wolden of Frederic, WI. Also surviving is his very special brother-in-law, Jeff Wermter of Superior, WI. and brothers and sisters-in-law: Sharon (Burge) Law, David Wermter, Tim (Lea) Wermter, Claudia Nelson and Greg (Patti) Wermter all of Douglas County, WI. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Mark and Ruth Beelby and brother-in-law, Brett Wermter and his father and mother-in-law Alfred and Doris Wermter. As per Mike's request, no services are planned. Family and friends hope to gather for a remembrance at a future date. No flowers, please. Cards may be sent to his home in South Range.
