Obituary of Mary A Mackey

Mary (Vezina) Mackey passed away June 8, 2020 in Ft. Myers, FL after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born May 12, 1954 to Clyde and Marion Vezina in Eveleth, MN. As a young girl, the family moved to Duluth, MN where she graduated from East High School. Mary attended DBU and graduated with an associate degree in Accounting. Mary married her longtime partner, Dean Esselstrom, on December 31, 2009. They enjoyed camping, boating, golfing, and spending time in Florida. In her younger years, she also enjoyed pool leagues with her sisters and friends. Mary worked for many years at Murphy Oil, Calumet, and Husky Energy, retiring from there in late 2019 and moving to her retirement home in Florida. Mary was preceded in death by her parents. Mary is survived by her husband, Dean Esselstom, her stepdaughters, Jessica and April, and 4 step-grandchildren. She is also survived by her 8 siblings: Clyde Gary Vezina, Larry (Pat) Vezina, Geraldine (Dan) Beck, Terry (John) Vezina, Carrie (Lynn) Slordal, Barry Vezina, Jerry (Pam) Vezina, and Perry (Melanie) Vezina. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held in Duluth, MN at later date.
