Obituary of John William Drake

John William Drake, age 84, of Clewiston passed away Monday, December 5, 2011 at Cape Coral, FL. John was born August 8, 1927 in Nashville, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe C. Drake, Sr. and Winnie (McGlothlin) Drake and brother Henry Drake, Sr. He is survived by his wife Emily (McLain) Drake; two sons: John Robert Drake (Diane) of Belleview, FL and William C. Drake (Kelly) of Clewiston, FL; one sister: Ettie Laurie Crossland (Aaron) of Kearny, AZ and one brother: Joe C. Drake, Jr. (Wanda) of Riverton, WY and five grandchildren. He was a resident of Clewiston for 59 years and owned and operated Drake's Dairy west of Clewiston. He served in the Navy during World War II from 09/05/1945 to 08/18/1946 and the Korean War from 11/06/1950 to 03/07/1952. He was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Area Ribbon and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Clewiston. He was a 50 year Perpetual Member and Past Master of Sugarland Lodge 281 F. & A.M. He was a 32 degree Perpetual Member of Valley if Ft. Myers Scottish Rite. He was an Honorary Member of Moore Haven Lodge 61 F. & A.M. and a member of Moore Haven Chapter 116 Order of the Eastern Star. He was a member of Lake Okeechobee Scottish Rite Club. He served on the Board of Directors of Glades Electric Cooperative, Inc. and Seminole Electric Cooperative, Inc. The funeral service was held 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 9 at First United Methodist Church, Clewiston, FL with Rev. John Hicks officiating. . .
