Obituary of Joseph Samuel Futch

Joseph Samuel Futch, age 91, of LaBelle passed away Feb. 10, 2012 in LaBelle. Joseph was born August 1, 1920 in Daisy, GA. He and his four brothers and five sisters spent their childhood in Georgia helping their parent's farm. At the age of 18, he and his family moved to Florida and settled around the Deland area. This is where he met and married Margaret Mines Futch. Together they had a daughter, Sandra. In 1943, Joe was drafted and served in the Army. When World War II ended, he returned to his wife and daughter in Melbourne, FL where he made a living building cypress lawn furniture. In the early 1950's, Joe moved his family to Hialeah. While in Hialeah, Joe became a carpenter and retired from that profession in 1982. Upon retirement, he and his wife Margaret moved to LaBelle. Joe enjoyed gardening, fishing, playing the harmonica and spoiling his grandchildren. He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge for 40 years and was the Worshipful Master of LaBelle Masonic Lodge #379 F. & A.M. Joe's quick wit and pleasant attitude will be missed by his family and friends. Survivors include his daughter: Sandra Milks (William) of LaBelle, granddaughters: Jodi Milks Stout and Theresa Barber; great-grandchildren, Tonya Wilkins (Travis), William Joseph Podubynskyj (Tanya), Margaret McCormick, Baylen McCormick and Ella Barber, great-great grandchildren: William T. Podubynskyj, Rachel Wilkins and Easton Wilkins and sister: Doris Grafton. He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Futch, great-grandson, Jonathan Podubynskyj, parents: Joseph and Elzada Futch, four brothers and four sisters. The funeral service was held Feb. 13, 2012, 4:00 p.m. at Akin-Davis Funeral Home, LaBelle, FL with Pastor W.T. Maddox officiating. Masonic Rites were rendered by LaBelle Masonic Lodge #379 F. & A.M.
