Obituary of Leldon Howard Backes

Leldon Howard "Sonny" Backes, age 86, of LaBelle passed away March 10, 2012 in LaBelle. He was born Sept. 4, 1925 in Punta Gorda, the son of the late Odra Monroe Backes and the late Ollie Mae (Spivey) Backes. He was also preceded in death by his son, Danny Monroe Backes, grandson: Danny Monroe Backes, Jr., son-in-law: Earl Oberg and his beloved dog, Lady: He served in the Coast Guard in WWII, was a member of VFW post#10100, LaBelle and served as a Deacon at Caloosa Baptist Church, LaBelle. Sonny loved Nascar, gardening, Hershey candy bars, Pepsi and his dog Girl. He leaves behind his loving wife of 60 years: Beverly "Jeannie" Backes, children: Cynthia Backes Bough and husband Gordon Bough, Theresa Oberg, daughter-in-law: Doreen Backes grandchildren: Olivia Bough and husband: Bert Vonhagel, Rebecca Bough and husband, Bobby Clukey, Jason Poole, SonnyDan Backes, Jessica Backes and husband Matt Lewis, great-grandchildren: Alexia and Evan Poole, Laeda Faith Backes, Gabriella Herrera and Jacob Herrera daughter-in-love: Paula Sue Scott and sons-in-love: Lenny Gamble and Robert Kasprack. A memorial service was held Tuesday, March 13, 2012, 10:00 a.m at Muse Family Farm, 1633 Muse Road, LaBelle, FL with Dr. Les Morgan officiating.
