Obituary of Catherine Josephine Hinkle
Catherine Bruce Hinkle
April 20, 2012
Catherine Josephine was born in February, 1924 in Rosewood, Queensland, Australia. In 1944 during World War II she met and married a U.S. Navy sailor, moved to the United States, became a U.S. citizen, and spent her life as a supportive Navy spouse, loving mother and grandmother and great friend to many. She was predeceased by James, her husband of 67 years in 2008 and moved to Fort Myers soon after. Catherine is survived by her son James Hinkle, a retired Navy Admiral and his wife Meredith of Fairfax, VA; her daughter Janice Bunting, and son-in-law Bryan of Fort Myers, FL and two grandchildren James and Jennifer.
Catherine will be missed for her kind and caring ways, her sense of humor, and her Australian accent. She had many wonderful friends locally, out of state and abroad, and family in Australia; all of whom she maintained contact with over the years. A memorial mass and celebration of life event will be planned by the family in the near future. The family would like to thank the Hope Hospice team for their compassionate care leading up to her passing. Preferred memorials may be made in Catherine's name to Hope Hospice House, 2430 Diplomat Parkway East, Cape Coral, Florida 33909.
