Obituary of Charles Mason Moore
Charles M. Moore, age 73, of Fort Myers, FL, passed away December 16, 2012 in Cape Coral, FL. He was born June 29, 1939 in Saginaw, MI to the late Charles J and the late Dorothy Mason Moore. He was educated in Saginaw and was a veteran of the U.S.M.C, serving from 1956-1962. He worked at the Andrew Ellis Co. for 23 years until it closed and then sold insurance for Mutual of Omaha & Detroit Mutual 14 years. Charles was involved in Scouting for many years and also served as an adult leader with the Scouts. He also was a member of the Saginaw Police Reserve for 28 years, attaining the rank of Capt, NRA, Marine Corps Assoc. and the Subic Bay Marines. He married Barbara Stanford Dec. 4, 1992. They bought a winter home in Fort Myers in 2001 and moved there permanently in 2004.
Survivors include his wife: Barbara Moore, Ft. Myers, 3 children: Judy Minar, Midland, MI, Mike Moore, Portland, ME and Jim Moore of Midland, MI, stepchildren: LCDR Michael Martin, US Navy and Lori Lightfoot (Rodger) of Auburn, MI, sister: Elizabeth Lamblin of Saginaw, MI, eight grandchildren and two great-grandsons. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert J. Moore Nov. 27, 2012.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, December 20, 2012, 9:00 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 13031 Palm Beach Boulevard, Fort Myers, FL with Father David Arle officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the U.S. M.C.
