Obituary of Myrtice Cribbs
Obituary for: MYRTICE MOSELEY CRIBBS
Myrtice M. Cribbs, age 91 passed away Friday 3/26/2010. She was born 9/15/1918, in Oakpark, Emanuel Co., GA, the daughter of Dewitt and Katie (Sewell) Moseley and moved to Plant City, FL as an infant. She was the youngest and the remainder of six girls who grew up and married in Plant City, FL; all descendants of Rev. Soldier, Brantley Moseley, who settled in Emanuel County, GA in 1804. She raised 5 children in Hendry County. In the early 50s she worked for Roscoe Miller, Realtor in LaBelle, typing abstracts; later working for Merle Davis' Trading Post; and as County Agent secretary for Frank Polhill. In the 60s she ran the Caloosa Belle Newspaper, and was responsible for the suggested name "Swamp Cabbage" for our local festival. In the mid 70's she relocated to Naples and worked as a CNA @ Naples Community Hosp. She retired with the Lee County School Board's Foster Grandparent Program and returned to LaBelle. She resided @ LaBelle Commons for a number of years and more recently with her Dau, Martha. She was a resident @ Oakbrook Nursing Home since Sept. 2008. She was preceded in death by Son, Richard Dennis Cribbs, Son-In-Law, Biff Lampton, Grandson, Derek Lee Lampton; and the father of her children, Jesse Cribbs. She is survived by Daughters: Carol Roberts, Martha Ratliff (& Terry Duke), Lilly Lampton and Son, Jerry Cribbs; Grandchildren: Curtis Roberts, Greg Roberts, Chrissy Roberts-Wooten; Simon Cribbs; Walter Ratliff III, Richard Ratliff, Burke Lampton and Sherri & Rex Cribbs; along with many Gr Grandchildren. Services were held Wed. 3/31/10 at Northside Baptist Church, Plant City, FL with interment at Oaklawn Cemetery in Plant City.
