Karole's wish was to have her ashes poured into the ocean. Ashes to ashes dust to dust, the body returns but the soul floats to heaven above.

On this day I am reminded of Karole's passing. I find it ironic that I remember to light a candle for her on January the 21st instead of January 14th the anniversary of her passing. Today, I remember a woman who did her best at being my mom, but still had flaws. She was secretive about her childhood in Haiti as if she were embarrassed of it. She worked a job that she didn't like just to keep a roof over our heads. Mama I love and miss you!

A LETTER OF HEALING
Dear mom,
There are times that I think about you with so many thoughts going through my mind. It's hard for me to remember our moments. You were always working trying to keep a roof over our heads. I try so hard to remember any good times we shared. The only time I can remember is when we went to Disney World. This is the only time I can remember having a happy moment that we've shared. Mom, we were always at odds with one another. Now, I have daughters of my own. The vicious cycle of disfunction is repeated. Bebe is now 17 and she and I are at odds with one another. I don't want to loose her, but I have. I am trying to keep my relationship with Kitty. I hope that she isn't blinded by the lies from her father. Mom, I know that you wished bad things for me because of your misery. I never asked to be born. I just was through your mistake. I now know that you had regrets but you still loved me with your crazy ways. As I write this I try to dig deep for the love that is between a mother and daughter, but I can't. I know that I have some love for you, but not what you would expect. I do miss you at the oddest of times, but only because you were my only family. I hope that you have the peace that you desperately longed for.

Ms. Karole touched so many lives in so many positive ways. She was always there for our family whenever we needed her. She was my grandmothers best friend and later became one of my mothers best friends, and was a wonderful mother figure to us. She will forever be in our hearts. We love Ms. Karole.

Ms. Karole was a dear, dear friend of my mother. I remember spending lots of time with her as a child; she even lived with us at times. When Ms. Karole was around there was always the smell of great cooking! Thank you, Ms. Karole, for being my mom's great friend. You will be missed!

I spent a lot of time with Karole growing up. She treated me like a daughter. Because of her I still love cream of chicken soup on my mashed potatoes and every time I eat them I think of her. She called me Chris tuna. I will miss her. Until we met again.

Karole is my mother. She has always been a difficult person, but she always meant well. She had funny ways that would either make you laugh or pick at your nerves, but you still would love her. She was loved and admired by many. She will be missed. I love you mama and I am sorry that I missed your last breath of life.
