Obituary of Betty Jean Newman

Betty Jean Newman, age 82, of Clewiston passed away January 22, 2015 in Atlanta, GA. She was born January 16, 1933 in Weirsdale, FL to the late John Riley Barton and the late Alice Chastain Barton. She was a lifelong resident of Clewiston and retired from the Hendry County School System. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Clewiston and was in involved in the Gideons International auxiliary. Survivors include her son Greg Newman (Michi) of Atlanta, GA; brother John Barton (Elizabeth), Maryville, TN; grandchildren Yale, Anders and Lake. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Newman; her parents, her sisters Geraldine, Joyce and Mary Alice and her brothers Loyas and Oscar. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 30, 2015 at 11:30am at the First Baptist Church of Clewiston, FL with the Reverend Bill Derryberry officiating. Visiting with the family will be on Friday morning from 10:30am to 11:30am at the First Baptist Church of Clewiston. Interment will be in Ridgelawn Cemetery.
