Obituary of James Robert Hughes

James Robert Hughes, age 63, of Moore Haven, passed away June 17, 2015 in Lehigh Acres. He was born July 21, 1951 in Tampa, FL, to the late Carl Clifford and Marie Lillian (Roberts) Hughes. Mr. Hughes married Gloria Thomas at Arcadia, FL on November 8, 1986. Jim as he was known by his loving wife worked for Pratt-Whitney in Connecticut for eight years and then later he worked for A. Duda and Sons for over 23 years. He enjoyed playing music especially playing the guitar, he was in numerous bands, including: Strings of Praise, HIS Quartet, The Chase now Derrick Scott Band. He had a huge heart and never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him very much. He leaves behind his lovely wife of 28 years; Gloria Hughes of Moore Haven, daughters; Jennifer Sposato and her companion Sue, Bettie Jean Ison and her husband David, sons; Mark Corey and his companion Bethann, James Paul Hughes,, two brothers; Danny Hughes and his wife Tammy and Tony Hughes and his wife Edna, he also leaves behind two loving grandchildren. A life celebrating service was held on Monday, June 22, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Community Presbyterian Church in Clewiston. Visitation was held Sunday afternoon from 1-3 p.m. in Akin-Davis Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Ortona Cemetery. Celebration service was arranged by Akin-Davis Funeral Home – Clewiston.
