Obituary of William H Burkett
William H. (Bill) Burkett went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 24, 2015 at the age of 84. He was born in Franklin, Virginia to Earnest and Katie Burkett. Early in life, he and his parents moved to Suffolk, Virginia. At 17, he join the Virginia National Guard. He was a true patriot who served his county with loyalty and honor. He served in four branches of the United States Military: National Guard, Air Force, Air Force Reserve and the Marine Reserve. After leaving the military, he married his high school sweetheart, Rhetta Rose. Shortly thereafter, Billy was employed by the Virginia Department of Highways for 20 years. Billy and Rhetta relocated to Fort Myers in 1979. He is survived by his wife, Rhetta, their daughter and husband; grandson, granddaughter, sister in law and husband. Military Memorial Service will be held November 6, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sarasota National Cemetery.
