Obituary for: Douglas W. Eiland
Douglas W. Eiland, 67, quietly went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, while surrounded by his family on June 20, 2010. He will be fondly remembered for his quiet strength, sense of humor (as evidenced by his fishing antics), courage, and loyalty to his family. Doug leaves behind a legacy of caring, hope, and optimism as shown by his fearless 10 year battle with cancer. He is survived by Florence Ann, his daughters Christine (Stephen) Schueller, Cynthia (Philip) Howell, Cathleen (Michael) Esterak, and Clarissa (Andy Sill) Stephenson; step-sons Peter (Christine) Field, and Stephen (Sharon) Field; step-daughter Cynthia (Anthony) Carino; grandchildren Hillary (Bill) Steiger, Terra Howell, Crystal, Michael, and Cassandra Esterak, Lauren, David, and Alex Stephenson; great-grandchildren Jade Steiger and Austin Field; brother Dennis (Cindy) Eiland, sister Karen (Gary) Ansell; Aunt Gloria and Uncle Dan Morisak. In addition, Doug leaves behind several nieces, nephews and many wonderful and supportive friends. A memorial service will be held Friday, June 25, 2010 at 1:00 PM at Olga Baptist Church, 2364 S. Olga Drive, Fort Myers, FL 339095. (239) 694-2012. The family suggests memorial donations to The American Cancer Society , Hope Hospice, or The March of Dimes.
